School Closure Notice 3-13-2020
Posted 3/13/20

March 13, 2020

Parents, Families and Friends:

In light of the ever-changing situation with COVID-19 and in an effort to proactively slow the spread, Winters Schools will be closed for three (3) weeks beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 through Friday, April 3, 2020.  We will make a determination at that time about any further closures and will provide updates as necessary.

We did not make this decision lightly and recognize that this may cause a hardship for some families. We  appreciate the proactive illness prevention steps that our families and staff have taken. Illness prevention steps make a significant difference in safeguarding the health of our communities, and we encourage continued attention in this effort.

This closure also means that athletics, professional development, school events, and extracurricular activities scheduled between, Monday, March 16 through Friday, April 3, 2020, are canceled or may be rescheduled. In alignment with our school closures, all before and after school programs at school sites will be closed for the same duration. Essential administrative and support staff will be available to answer questions throughout the closure.

School sites and their teachers are working on providing optional activities for students to stay engaged in their learning during this closure. Individual sites will be communicating to families when these activities are ready for pickup or available digitally.

During this closure we will be providing drive-through meal service for anyone aged 18 and under at Waggoner Elementary School. Starting Monday, March 16, we will be providing lunch and a brown bag breakfast. Meals will be available for lunch and breakfast pick-up between the hours of 11:00am-11:30am the week of March 16th through March 20th, and then again March 30 through April 3rd, with meal delivery to El Rio Villa (Yolo Housing) at approximately 11:45am.

Note: There will be no meal service during the scheduled Spring Break of March 23 through March 27.

Thank you for your partnership and understanding.
